Description: "Bengal Tiger" pitcher plant is the hybrid of the purple pitcher plant (Sarracenia purpurea) and trumpet pitcher plant (S. flava). The common name for this cross, Catesby's pitcher plant, is variable and extremely attractive cross that is coveted by gardeners.
This particular clone is an excellent bog garden pitcher plant that won't dissapoint. "Bengal Tiger" produces spectacular red-veined open mouths on short, tubby yellow leaves. The foliage matures to a rich maroon and is most valued for its spring show.
Pitcher Plant Care: Plant your Sarracenia in full sun to part shade outdoors. Use a peat moss, perlite mix in a very large planter and keep it wet. It is a deciduous perennial; it loses its leaves in the winter. Cold hardy to 20F in a pot and 0F in the ground.
